Dear parents,
I am your child's Track 2 Second Grade teacher. I am looking forward to meeting all my new students.
I grew up in a small town outside of Milwaukee, WI. I have three sisters and two brothers and had a fabulous childhood growing up on a ranch. I think I was raised as an adventurer, growing up with horses, mini-bikes, raising raccoons and designing and building tree forts. It's from my childhood that I have an extreme love of nature and the out of doors. I believe in surrounding myself with positive energy and extend that positive energy to the classroom and in all aspects of my life.
I have lived in a variety of states and had a variety of educational experiences until I realized that teaching children was my forte. I graduated from UW-Milwaukee with a degree in Early Childhood Education with honors.
I married shortly thereafter and moved to Florida where I taught kindergarten for four years. My husband was transferred to Raleigh 10 years ago. I was hired at Morrisville in 2008. I taught first grade for the first four years and kindergarten for six years and half a year in second grade. I LOVE the little ones!
My philosophy is that learning can be fun. Students learn best when relaxed and enjoying classroom experiences. Because of my love of singing and dancing, I incorporate both in learning new concepts, creating a sense of belonging and a community of learners. I believe that my enthusiasm and passion for teaching is contagious and this excitement is transferred to my students and their love of learning. A comfortable environment is created in my room where students develop a sense of self worth, the ability to take risks and form a solid image of self as well as a healthy curiosity about the world around them.
